Welcome to the Punta Allen, Mexico
information site. Written by locals and up to date for help in planning
your dream vacation to the wonderful pueblo of Punta Allen, Quintana
Roo, Mexico. The entrance to Bahia de Ascension and nestled deep in the
beautiful jungles of Sian Ka'an. Punta Allen is a small, enchanted fishing and lobstering village of approximately 300 people. We are located at the end of the Boca Paila Peninsula and 28 miles south of the entrance to the Sian Ka'an Biosphere. Although we are only 92 miles from the hustle and bustle of Cancun, we are a world away when it comes to a true end of the road destination for fly fishing, nature lovers, and those wanting to get away from the crowds. |

The road to
Punta Allen is newly improved and a far site from yesterday's.
It meanders south down the Boca Paila Peninsula following a well
worn path originally made by the Maya people thousands of years
ago to help facilitate commerce with the main land of Yucatan
Peninsula. Even today, the road passes no less than three Maya
way-stations and one very impressive, unexcavated sight used by
Maya shamans at Xcmach.
The ancient Maya were incredible seafarers and today their legacy lives on in coastal pueblos like Punta Allen. The population has been living in harmony with the ocean for eons - harvesting fish and lobster while not upsetting the delicate ecosystem. Although the main commerce in Punta Allen is lobstering, it has become a prime destination for fly fishing anglers wanting to experience the crystal clear, unspoiled waters of Ascension Bay. The local guides have a well earned reputation as professional and polite.
